Come to the last A3 exercise that we did in class,
which is a new method - RAnDOM WoRD/IMaGe.
This is quite interesting method but also a simple method which can bring us go further.
The task for this week is to Create a scary image or object that will instill fear among people throughout the ages.
"Wow!" is the first thing come to our mind,
how to create a scary image or object from a cute cute kitten????
But at the Last we also done by using our creativity and also think out of logic.

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition is using two different subject to replace each other. Mostly both of the subjects are not related to each other such as abstract concepts, though it refers to physical objects. Juxtaposition is a stimulation of creativity to solve problem or design by joining the both object, and pursuit by confronting two unrelated object. The object chosen are mostly the goal or the problem to be solved taken in one hand and another hand selected randomly.

The creativity of juxtaposition also used the two concepts or objects from unfamiliar for others to make everyone familiar to it. There are some video below that show some of the photo that are unfamiliar to others and the concept or some theory that are related to juxtaposition.

David Macaulay: All roads lead to Rome Antics

He went to Rome and sketches a lot about Rome, not only how the building is, the lines, the shade, or the texture but the shadow and how their lifestyle was. He drew about scene and the situation that are happening on that time; how the historical of their culture live in their country. He even drew the details of lifestyle such as the waiters in a restaurant accidentally pour the plate of, and the top view of the city (the sky of Rome) that normally won’t draw by others.

Seth Godin: Sliced bread and other marketing delights

"Seth Godin may be the ultimate entrepreneur for the Information Age," Mary Kuntz wrote in Business Week. Seth Godin thinks new marketing ideas in the perspective of our digital age. His speech speak the words of a digital marketing, where no one’s really care about the spam or advertising that people did not care about. People do not care about things that they see every day, because that is too common and very familiar to them. So he taught advertising the way in an unfamiliar way to make a successful marketing. One of the good examples he tells is the purple cow. If everyone saw purple cow every day, it will be familiar and bored as well.

Gordon Brown: Wiring a web for global good

He is Britain’s former prime minister and became one of the world’s most experienced political leaders. He also pushed for universal broadband and a general increase in spending on science. He speaks about the war or protesters that can’t be seen or hidden. He said everyone is at a unique moment in history, that we are the first generation to change and create. There are many challenges that cannot be solving with just a country alone but global together such as global climate change that need global solution; that truly needed to re-create a global society.

Three of the video above have told the concept and meaning of juxtaposition where the meanings of juxtaposition were very wide. Juxtaposition also is a visual art, most of the time people need to visualise the image to understand. The simple example of contrast side of juxtaposition such as “it’s raining, but I am not taking umbrella”; it’s an unusual conflict.

Follow by last week, this week we learn about another type of juxtaposition which is create an animal that is can't survive in the world.
Besides, we also create the poem by using chilli and have to related to love.
We also have to create a poem by using mortal and pestle and have to related to man or woman.
Therefore, must think out of the box and create something really new that never seen by human before.

JUXTAPOSITION (ANOTHER WAY TO MAKE US THINK MORE CREATIVITY ^V^)

The another way to make us think more creativity is by the juxtaposition method.
this is also taught by our creative studies lecturer.
We feel that very lucky to have this course after this few week because the method that we learning is really useful.
This week, we are trying to create something new by using word,
the difficulty of this method is we have to throw all the logic away and think from the origin,
that we have to act as we are first time see the words.

Invention, innovation, novelty and creativity

Invention is a composition of novel, device, or process. It can be said as a derived from a pre-existing model or idea; and it depend on the radical breakthrough. Inventions often extend the boundaries of human knowledge or experience. The skill or the novel that are in the same field may not be the same invention.

“Keep it simple stupid (KISS)” is the main idea that go through all inventors, eventually it is showing the idea of “less is more”. The simpler the invention or idea, is the best. The invention must not be invented due to the inventor but to the user, where everyone knows to use it easily.

There are some of the great inventions that create use by century till present, but some have been prohibit. Any invention does not consist of bad idea or good idea, good inventors or good inventors. The invention that create is depends on different situation on some users that may be well used.

The history of the Atomic Bomb is the one of the greatest invention ever made that used in World War II. Just before the beginning of World War II, Albert Einstein wrote to President Franklin D. Roosevelt told that uranium-235 which could be used to build an atomic bomb. Over the course of six years, the formulas for refining uranium and putting together a working atomic bomb were created and seen to their logical ends by some of the greatest minds of our time.

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication,” by Leonardo Da Vinci. His hundreds of inventions and ideas had recorded in his notebook, but nothing had been built. This book of his has languished for centuries but some said the industrial revolution was set back two centuries because his ideas were buried.

Innovation is different from invention. Innovation is the pattern that turns an unsatisfied art work better and more effective by using the original product, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself.

According to the Peter F. Drucker, the general sources of innovations are different changes in industry structure, in market structure, in local and global demographics, in human perception, mood and meaning and in the amount of already available scientific knowledge.

In other words, innovation is the creation of better products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are accepted by the society. The process by which an idea or invention is translated into a good or service for which people will pay, or something that results from this process.

Basically, there are two types of innovation. First is to create new things, like things that can touch or hear or smell, and the other innovation is the development of new things, things that people can do. Such as computer programme, business process, biotechnology, industrial process, or even carried bricks. “Invention is the 1% inspiration, which is the easy bit; while innovation is the 99% perspiration, which is the hard bit” by Thomas Edison, where he is a great innovator. Therefore, innovation can be simplified as a simple definition, the transformation of an idea into something useful.

Innovation by businesses is achieved in many ways. One of the examples is the access of internet, where it changes over time to connect everyone from the world together. Facebook is the innovation of social network; it is the simplest linear model innovation that recreates to accept by the society.

Novelty comes from a Latin words means “new”, it is a state of quality of being new or unusual. It could also be express as a new being of art, such as abstract art. The innovation of novelty has made a novelty in patent law, which is to claim of the priority of an invention. It is to protect the invention of the inventor or their successor in title. There are two novelty, relative novelty and absolute novelty.

Relative novelty protect the invention for 6 to 12 months in normal, absolute novelty protect the invention forever to protect from the public that are written publications, sales, or public demonstrated. Nowadays, novelty law only use by some countries.

The word “creativity” consist of the word create, it means to create some things new, or unique, either it is physically or mentally. The ideas of creativity come from everywhere that are rich to everyone but the creativity within them have slowly swallow up by the environment in everyday life. When we are still a child, we think everything is possible and create things that are different from the others, although some are not effective, but the idea comes from oneself.

Before children start their school, what they know is what they see or hear or taste is the world of them and the creativity beneath them are unlimited; but when they start school, they will learn what is correct and what is wrong, that is what kills their creativity. Anything we could see is an idea or a creation either by Mother Nature or man made. When children try to avoid mistake, their creativity has going down; therefore, the patterns of everyday life has become 1 of the main reasons that kills people creativity.
